Jakob Halpern, a member of Saiber's business litigation and intellectual property practice groups, has been appointed to serve a two-year term on the International Trademark Association's Data Protection Committee. The Committee’s role is to develop and advocate for the Association's policy regarding the impact of data protection law on trademark rights. The committee will also monitor data protection cases, legislation, and regulation in various jurisdictions, complete analyses and propose policy recommendations to the Board. As a Committee member, Jake will submit reports, interact with data protection organizations, provide subject matter expertise and prepare educational materials for INTA members who are not familiar with data protection laws, and advocate in conjunction with relevant INTA committees and staff. Jake's appointment is effective beginning January 1, 2022. He is currently serving on the Artificial Intelligence subcommittee of the Emerging Issues Committee, with his term ending on December 31, 2021.

Jake represents clients in corporate, commercial, complex and multi-party litigation with an emphasis on intellectual property law. He also counsels clients regarding intellectual property rights issues, including the clearance, registration and enforcement of trademarks and trademark rights. Jake is a member of the John Lifland Federal Practice Inn of Court, and prior to joining Saiber clerked for the Hon. William Matthew Byrne, Jr., on the United States District Court for the Central District of California, following a year as a litigation associate at a prominent D.C. law firm. He received his A.B. from Dartmouth College in 1999 and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law School in 2004.
